Alex
did business with cash on the barrel head. Frugality was the name of the
game in the cash strapped depression years.
The Sinclairs sold ads, wrote
stories, edited, handset and published the Alhambra Herald, a local weekly
newspaper. The
advent of Linotype typesetting equipment brought automation. The
increased productivity enabled the printing plant to expand and do jobs
for businesses in the community. These mostly consisted of forms, letterhead
and envelopes.

The
development of the work force has been an important part of the Sinclair
operation from the very beginning. The family recognized the importance
of a culture which promotes respect, encourages education and minimizes
turnover. Many of the original team remained with the Company until their
retirement. |
Lithography
was a modernization that Company visionary Dick Sinclair correctly anticipated
as the future of printing. He purchased our first litho press in 1960,
the first web press in 1974, and our first heatset press in 1981.
Dick engineered two major moves including our current location.
A private plane accident
in 1992 claimed the lives of Dick and his wife, Pat. The loss is commemorated
by a plaque presented by the employees to Robert and Dan which now graces
the entrance to the building.

Robert
and Dan Sinclair, who had been active in the business at the time of the
accident, took over. With the unfaltering support of 180 dedicated employees,
the Company continues to grow while making sure its customers are always
satisfied. |
